Broadway Joe’s Famous Hot Towel Shave
This is an eight step process that begins the moment you enter Joe’s salon to a cheerful greeting and welcoming handshake.
Step one: We begin by asking the client what music he wants to relax with; Pavarotti, Sinatra, Bennett….your choice.
Step two: Joe will place a warm towel around the neck and then adjust the clients’ comfort level with soft fluffy towels as he reclines in the oversized barber chair.
Step three: Joe will check the facial and neck area for any blemishes or abrasions, noting any area he must give special attention to.
Step four: Three hot towels are applied to soften the beard. Next a layer of cooling, aromatic noxema is rubbed into the skin. On top of this Joe applies a layer of personally prepared hot lather. Ummm! So good!
Step five: The actual shave begins as Joe glides the straight razor over the cheekbones and under the chin. The tonsorial expertise he learned at his grandfathers’ knee allows for a silky smooth experience. (Please note that a new disposable blade is used with every client).
Step six: Once the shave is complete the facial treatment begins by applying on moist hot towel after another in order to open the pores and cleanse them.
Step seven: After each hot towel a fragrant herbal cleanse is massaged into the skin followed by several moisturizing softeners. A total of fifteen hot towels and five creams are used in the process in order to achieve a softer and younger appearance
Step eight: A cool, heather scented towel is placed on the face to close the pores. Joe gently raises the chair to a sitting position as the scent of freshly brewed cappuccino wafts thru the air. Joes’ assistant appears at your side with a tray of café~ italianno and biscotti. After taking a minute to partake of the repast Joe will begin to finish the barbering by restyling the hair and shaving the back of the neck. This will give you a completed look reticent of the movie stars of the 1950s. You will have received the same treatment Joe gave Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin when he worked in the salons of the famous hotels in New York City as a young and skilled barber.
Good coffee, good barbering, and good conversation.
What a way to start or finish a day!
